Emil Schult x Sophia Schneider-Esleben

About Cornè Theron:
She is a neo-optical contemporary artist fascinated by our subconscious motivations and how that is expressed. Her work explores the question, "Why do we
do the things we do?" using water as a metaphor for the fluid and hidden nature ot our actions. Water symbolizes the depth and complexity of human behavior, flowing between conscious and subconscious states, expressing our individuality in its social eco-system, but also in terms of our physical environment. Her research explores the intersections of matrilineal influence, resilience and identity reconstruction within displaced communities. She engage with themes of postcoonial heritage, artistic reimagination and societal echo chambers as frameworks for cultural continuity and creative autonomy.
Years ago while living on a farm in South Africa and before moving to France in 2019 on a talent visa, Theron discovered glass in old dors as a filter to pixellate her images, adding abstraction and depth, blurring the lines between reality and perception. Today, she continues her exploration of glas as a filter, in an area of France with a rich cultural glass history. The surface tension of water, with its cohesion and flexibility, represents the fragility and interconnectedness of our social and physical ecosystems. This theme is central to her work, depicting the delicate balance and intricate connections in
our actions, interactions and relationships.
